The EAA comes into effect in June 2025. Are you ready?
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) will come into force on 28 June 2025. From this date, all products and services within its scope must comply with the accessibility requirements.
In Germany, the EAA is implemented through the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), which also comes into effect on 28 June 2025. This law extends accessibility obligations to various digital offerings and products, beyond those previously covered by the Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz.
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) and its German implementation, the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), establish comprehensive accessibility requirements for various products and services within the European Union and specifically in Germany. These regulations aim to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to essential goods and services.

Effective Date: 28 June 2025
Who Must Comply:
- All businesses, regardless of their location, that offer covered products or services to consumers within the EU.
- This includes manufacturers, importers, distributors, and service providers.
